It happens to the best of us — we mean to get a gift made for an occasion and it doesn’t happen for some reason. I spent so much time working on a gift for my daughter’s baby shower that I didn’t get around to the thing I was going to make her for Mother’s Day. You can’t really count on Amazon Prime shipping right now either. So, I had to think quickly and find something I could get in the mail in under an hour before the postman arrived. I came up with something I think any mother would like.

One of the things my daughter and I like to do together is get pedicures. Unfortunately, they live across the country so we don’t get to do it often. Since she’s expecting our first grandchild in a few weeks, I know she could really use one as soon as the salons reopen. I made her a card (nothing Silhouette-related — I did a watercolor) and put in a coupon for a pedicure. On the card I wrote that I would Venmo her the $ once she opened the card, as the salon she goes to didn’t have a way to purchase a gift certificate online. Plus, she won’t even have to take the time to deposit a check.

SO — here’s the little coupon I made.
I used this design from the Silhouette Design Store and scraps of paper. The red paper happens to be leftover from cupcake wrappers I made for her wedding. I used a sketch pen to write the words because my handwriting stinks. (To learn more about using sketch pens, see this post). The font I used is called Simple Sketch and I use it ALL the time. On the bottle cap, I used a Cuttlebug to emboss it for texture. The design comes with a flower, but I wanted more texture so instead I used I added a flower from Prima and a little rhinestone. (I’ve had a jar of Prima flowers forever, but these are similar). DONE! I got it in the mail in time so that she should be able to open it Sunday. If you need a last-minute gift, this is a great one!
